Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device

It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

The preview shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
